It's been a busy month for me and now I'm back, with lots to share!
I am pleased to present "Dash 'n' Swank", my return to creating fashion layouts, this first edition dedicated to the ladies. If you're on Twitter, I'll be requesting suggestions for a challenge. Give me a show, movie, song or work of art to draw inspiration from, and I'll put together a look. Imagine my surprise when Burn the Floor asked me to design a spread based on the international smash hit for this inaugural post!
Burn the Floor is a celebration of latin and ballroom dance, choreographed by Jason Gilkison, taking the world by storm and has hit Broadway full force. Featuring live music, from the Viennese Waltz to Modern Pop, and a cast of dancers holding about 100 dance titles collectively, it seems no city is safe from this thrill ride. You may even get to see your favorite dancers from Dancing with the Stars and So You Think You Can Dance!
Watching the footage on Burn the Floor's YouTube channel, I created a look that celebrates motion of the human body and the sensuous nature of dance. Take over the dance floor as the sueded fringe of the skirt swishes back and forth with your hips. Flick your wrists and feet as they catch the light, your Blu Bijoux Black Cougar Bangle chasing after your Marc by Marc Jacobs Fancy Mouse Ring. Keep the makeup light and natural, hair free flowing and go in for the kill!

I absolutely had to choose Beyoncé Knowles for this week's Phriday Phace. This woman truly has surprised me over the past few weeks. Performing in Gareth Pugh? Alexander McQueen? I was not expecting to be floored by If I Was a Boy and Single Ladies finds itself being looped when it plays on my Zune. If you have not picked up I Am... Sasha Fierce, I really recommend that you do. It's such a direct move for Beyoncé to establish herself as a musical artist.
This week's muse is none other than the legendary shoe designer, Manolo Blahnik. Honestly, I do not see how you can be alive and have never heard this man's name. I simply adore this man! How many people can create a product that women will practically kill each other for when they hit the clearance bin? At 66 years of age, he is as vibrant and full of energy as ever. He is so charming and witty, I can only pray that I might be as vivacious when I reach the age of 60.
The celebrity turned designer trend is getting a wee bit out of control, but I just don't know how to feel about this. Danity Kane? The American equivalent of the Spice Girls? Denim designers?
It's true! Apparently they've signed on with Dollhouse Jeans to "produce their new line of funky denim."
I'm concerned! One: they're joining the endless line of celebrities looking to cash in on the Fashion industry. Two, Aubrey is already working on her own line (Heart On My Sleeve– so cute)! Three, how cliche to sign on with Dollhouse Jeans!
My reason to hold out for a hope is that the Danity Divas are Phierce Phashionistas and can probably develop a line of jeans that every bad girl will want in their wardrobe.
Oh my Gabanna! Glory Hallelujah! Ladies and gentlemen we have life! And leave it to my favorite people on earth: Drag Queens!! And none other than her reigning Majesty, RuPaul, was on the judges panel.
If you've been watching Project Runway at all this season, then you know it's been flatter than Keira Knightly and half as enjoyable to watch. Way to push things up to a Double D cup Project Runway! Literally! These ladies were schlepping around boobs bigger than blimps! With their larger than life artificial appendages came larger than life personalities that the show has been in desperate need of since the news that Project Runway will be moving to... Lifetime(the horror!).
