This week's muse is none other than the legendary shoe designer, Manolo Blahnik. Honestly, I do not see how you can be alive and have never heard this man's name. I simply adore this man! How many people can create a product that women will practically kill each other for when they hit the clearance bin? At 66 years of age, he is as vibrant and full of energy as ever. He is so charming and witty, I can only pray that I might be as vivacious when I reach the age of 60.
What many may not know is that Mr. Blahnik never had any formal training in making shoes. He is a self-made shoe designer who works alone on every single one of his designs. Can you imagine? In the video above, he mentions that he designs nearly 300 new shoes per SEASON! He also dabbles in shoes for men!
What I admire most about Blahnik is how, even in his age, his designs are always moving fashion forward. No matter how classic or how Avante Garde, he is always pushing the line. He creates shoes that women across generations desire to wear. There are few designers who can make that claim in the fashion industry.
